چکیده

A stage-structured model for a theoretical epidemic process that incorporates immature, susceptible and infectious individual in independent stages is formulated. In this analysis, an input interpreted as a birth function is considered. The structural identifiability is studied using the Markov parameters. Then, the unknown parameters are uniquely determined by the output structure corresponding to an observation of infection. Two different birth functions are considered: the linear case and the Beverton-Holt type to analyze the structured epidemic model. Some conditions on the parameters to obtain nonzero diseasefree equilibrium points are given. The identifiability of the parameters allows us determine uniquely the basic reproduction number R0 and the stability of the model in the disease-free equilibrium is studied usingR0 in terms of the model parameters.

The rate of convergence to early asymptotic behaviour in age-structured epidemic models.

Age structure is incorporated in many types of epidemic models. Often it is convenient to assume that such models converge to early asymptotic behaviour quickly, before the susceptible population has been appreciably depleted. We make use of dynamical systems theory to show that for some reasonable parameter values, this convergence can be slow. Such a possibility should therefore be considered...

Bayesian non-parametric inference for stochastic epidemic models using Gaussian Processes

This paper considers novel Bayesian non-parametric methods for stochastic epidemic models. Many standard modeling and data analysis methods use underlying assumptions (e.g. concerning the rate at which new cases of disease will occur) which are rarely challenged or tested in practice. To relax these assumptions, we develop a Bayesian non-parametric approach using Gaussian Processes, specificall...

Non-parametric Structured Output Networks

Deep neural networks (DNNs) and probabilistic graphical models (PGMs) are the two main tools for statistical modeling. While DNNs provide the ability to model rich and complex relationships between input and output variables, PGMs provide the ability to encode dependencies among the output variables themselves. End-to-end training methods for models with structured graphical dependencies on top...

The Influence of Vegetation Height Heterogeneity on Forest and Woodland Bird Species Richness across the United States

Avian diversity is under increasing pressures. It is thus critical to understand the ecological variables that contribute to large scale spatial distribution of avian species diversity. Traditionally, studies have relied primarily on two-dimensional habitat structure to model broad scale species richness. Vegetation vertical structure is increasingly used at local scales. However, the spatial a...
